Founder's Profile
The Chief Mentor of The Debate Club, Nitin Jayakrishnan is a seasoned debater himself and thus, lends valuable advice to participants and organizers alike. As a debater, he has won various accolades and awards at conventions around the country. Adjudged Best Speaker and Highest Contributor in Debating Matters in 2009, he also got the chance to be a judge at the Regional Finals of Debating Matters India in 2010. Later that year, Nitin was an organizer for TEDxYouth@Chennai, an event hosted under the famous TED banner. At The Debate Club, Nitin provides the guidance and direction to ensure that the events and the organizers surpass their potential.
As the Chair (Ex) of the Reseach and Development wing of The Debate Club, Vishruth Venkat is responsible for ensuring that the quality of The Bait is maintained, if not bettered. Diverse in every sense of the term, Vishruth is a student of the University of California – Berkley, studying Integrated Biology and Theatre with minors in Communication and Tamil Literature. An exceptional debator and a hardcore liberalist, Vishruth is of the strong belief that “argumentation backed by pure research will pave the way for a better world.” Last year, he was part of the organizing team for TEDxYouth@Chennai, a conference conducted on the occasion of International Youth Day. At The Bait '10, Vishruth bagged the award for Best Speaker.
A journalist with The Hindu and global topper in the Cambridge A Levels, Yashasvini Rajeshwar is a student of the Indian Institude of Technology, Madras (Humanities). An aspiring linguist and an avowed Francophile, she was amongst the toppers in India in her IGSCE exams. After organizing TEDxYouth@Chennai, the Chennai chapter of a worldwide movement in celebration of International Youth Day, she travelled to Geneva on invitation as part of a cultural exchange. She also works with medical professionals to bridge the gap between the medical world and that of the common man through her writing. At The Debate Club, she is Chair, Corporate Affairs.
